CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP GALAS

These galas are open to all Club members and provide a great opportunity for swimmers of all levels to advance their swimming. For some members this may represent their first steps in their competitive swimming career, for others, a chance to improve on their “personal bests” and even receive an award. Over the year there will be events to cover all strokes, at various distances, for all age groups. You can choose which events you wish to enter and are under no obligation to swim in all the races for your age group – although very welcome to do so if you wish.

There are 5 galas during the year. The club galas will be held at the Braunstone Leisure Centre.

Before the Gala

Entry forms for the galas will generally be available from the date of the previous gala and can be collected from the pools or downloaded from the downloads page

The age groups are based on your age at 31st December .

If you are relatively new to competitive swimming and do not have previous recorded times for the events you wish to enter, do not worry. Simply tick the relevant box in the bottom half of the entry form and you will be entered into one of the earlier heats in that event. The top half of the form is your record of your entry. Please ensure that you fully complete the bottom half of the form otherwise entries cannot be processed.

Each competitor will be issued with a competitor card for each event entered. Cards will normally be issued prior to the gala, and you will need to bring them with you to the gala.

On the day

At each gala, competitor cards need to be put into the entries box, situated on the entrance desk. The card box closes at 6.00 pm, and thus cards need to be posted prior to this time.

Medals are awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each age group in an event. Results are put up when available. If you win a medal, you should go to the medals table to receive your award. We also make awards for 8-12 year olds under the ASA Competitive Speed Awards, enabling us to recognize the successes and progress of our younger swimmer in the club galas.
